How ecstatic am I that I saw The Postelles at Bonnaroo.... twice? If you answer "very ecstatic" you are correct. I had never heard of them before my trip down south two weeks ago (even though they're from New York!) but after overhearing their name come up in more than one conversation on the festival grounds, I decided to check them out. From the very first song I could tell that I was going to enjoy them. They reminded me of early Strokes fused with early Arctic Monkeys (how lucky is it to be the love child of these two bands?). Actually, I later found out that Albert Hammond Jr. produced their EP. But what made their set one of my favorites at Bonnaroo was their never-ending energy on stage. The band was tight and the members were all in sync with one another (they would huddle around the drum set before the start of a song). The lead singer knew exactly how to seduce the audience and wasn't afraid to use the stage - ALL of the stage. He mic-shared with the guitarist on several occasions which gave me some serious flashbacks to Pete & Carl of The Libertines (I had to shush my inner fangirl). The next day they played on a much smaller stage and the performance was more personal but just as epic. Favorite song? "Can't Stand Still" (I am writing this in a computer lab and I can hear the tune in my head and it's making me not want to sit still).

The Postelles' debut album comes out on July 27 and if you're in town on July 28 check them out at The Bowery Ballroom. They're going to be the next big thing.
